05 May The Value of a Great Testimony
Do I have great news for you today! We have a whole County, no TWO counties, full of sinners who need Jesus. You hold the key to their eternal destiny! Isn’t that great news?
Occasionally, I hear people say,, “I’d witness, but I don’t know what to say.” I want to challenge you to give Yourself away. What do I mean by that?
You can give a witness through your face and your demeanor! Honestly, a world is not attracted to an old sour puss! Where is your smile? Have you notified your face that you have every reason in the world to be happy? Have you walked past your own miseries to consider, “I know who I am! I know where I’m going! I know how I’m going to get there!” That’s why you smile! That’s why you push on. Not everything in life is good. We all have some miseries. We’re all going through stuff. The great news is your identity and your future are already settled, if your name is written in the Book of Life.
The testimony, your personal life story of your journey to Christ, is the most valuable Christian resource you have! It contains three parts:
- What I was.
- What I have become.
- And (most important): How I became what I am.
Without a long drawn boast, you can simply state what you were. Believe it or not, people are interested in that. I mean, if you were in the dregs of sin, you don’t need to share it all. Then you state with joy, “This is what God made out of the wreck of my life. I came to the realization, I was bound for an eternal destiny called hell!” Then you share, “How I came to Christ.” That’s the most fascinating part. They want to hear your story of your encounter with Jesus and the difference He has made in your life.
Still hesitant? Write your story out. Bring it to your pastor so he can help with your testimony. It should be about 300 words.
Well, I’m waiting … Who is going to share their testimony with me?
