“Snake Bit!”

“Snake Bit!”

“A rattlesnake bit one of my sheep in the face about a week ago. Deadliest snake that lives around here. The sheep’s face swelled up and hurt her terribly.

But the old rattlesnake didn’t know the kind of blood that flows through the sheep. Anti-venom is most often made from sheep’s blood. The sheep swelled for about 2 days but the blood of the lamb destroyed the venom of the serpent.

I was worried but the sheep didn’t care. She kept on eating, kept on drinking and kept on climbing because she knew she was alright.

Often the serpents of this life will reach out and bite us. They inject their poison into us, but they cannot overcome the Blood of the Lamb of God that washes away the sin of the world and the sting of death. Don’t worry about the serpent or his bite; just make sure that the Lamb’s Blood is flowing through your veins.”

I grew up in sheep and cattle country in Wyoming. I never knew this. The golden gem from the above article is such a great truth.

My friends, we have to accept the fact we live in snake country. What I dislike most is the unexpected strike of our spiritual enemy, Satan. Much like walking through an area filled with undergrowth, it is the surprise factor that is so deadly. If you see a snake crawling across a paved road, it is not a problem to kill it. If you are suddenly faced with a terrible or even minor car accident, a sudden health issue, or someone who makes you angry at a moment’s notice, there is danger to your spirit. Someone rubs you the wrong way. You react with anger, and lose your temper. Read 2 Corinthians 2:11. Our spiritual enemy hides and attacks when we are most relaxed. We are warned in Scripture to be ever vigilant. The enemy to our soul and spirit is waiting for you to relax, to be weary, to walk in the stupids for a few moments. Then he strikes.

Our anti-venom is Jesus’ Blood. Read Ephesians 2:13. I pray you will heed this advice: Plead the Blood of Jesus over yourself, your family, your job, your church family. How do you do that? You simply pray in faith, “Lord Jesus, I plead the Blood of Jesus over myself, my family, my church, my day. Make me aware of evil that lurks.”
