23 Apr ” … and the Needs Keep Rolling In”
This week, I have been inundated with people who have needs. “Pastor,” or, “Chaplain” (depending on where I am), “The new kitty I got for our three children is only four weeks old. It won’t eat anything but human food!” “I am an alcoholic, and I’m not shamed to admit it.” “I have ‘long covid,’ and I am so suffering.” “I’m going through chemo, and I hurt so much.” “My Mom is getting older, and I don’t have the funds to put her someplace where she can get the help she needs.” “I just found out my husband is using hard drugs, and he has brought them into the house around my kids.”
“Pastor, you are looking to your future in missions, but what about us? We are being left behind. What are we going to do? Will our church ever grow? What is next?”
Those are heavy burdens to bear! Jesus said, “Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and my burdens light.” Matthew 11:28-30
Dear Ones, there will always be needs all round us. I know when the first paragraph was written, that it was almost overwhelming. Here is what I have to do:
- Come to Jesus.
- He will give us rest.
- Let Jesus walk beside and even carry us.
- You will find rest for your soul.
- Jesus has big shoulders.
- He is more than able to meet every need.
Let us all lean hard on Jesus. Tell Him everything!
