“Allowing Your Property to be Stolen”

“Allowing Your Property to be Stolen”

A true story unfolded about a friend who had purchased several acres of undeveloped land decades ago. At that time, the property was in the middle of nowhere. Eventually, an expensive subdivision was developed. The property owner was advised that now would be a good time to sell the land. The owner went to see the land in preparation to sell the property. He immediately noted that a neighbor had built a fence on his property. He approached the neighbor, informing him he had a fence on his property. The neighbor said it was his land. They took the matter to the court system for the judge to rule.

After looking at the original surveys, the judge ruled: “The property, as is clearly shown on legal documents, belongs to you. State law, however, says, ‘If you do not contest a fence line for seven years, then you have lost your rightful claim to the property.’” He lost a valuable chunk of property, not because it wasn’t rightfully his. He lost it because it wasn’t rightfully claimed.

The spiritual enemy, Satan, is always declaring, “You just think what is yours is really yours. I still own more than you think, and I refuse to let go!”

Here are some samples of this:

    • You raised your kids, and grandkids to worship and serve Jesus. Now that they are adults, they are turning into heathens, denying the power of God. They are also proclaiming by their lifestyle that they are “masters of their own destinies, and refuse the childhood fantasy that they need to be saved.”
    • You once declared Jesus was your new Master. You were through with sin and sinful habits. However, that is not the way your lifestyle and habits testify. Your habits and lifestyle declares, “I am my own person. I will do what I want when I want.”

Bit by bit, we compromise on issues and lifestyle. “I will tell the story,” yet it is not totally truthful. “I will take this … it is just a few dollars worth of items from the work place. No one ever uses it, and it has been sitting there for years.”

Do you know why the devil thinks we still belong to him? Because we don’t live our lifestyle according to whom we claim we are.

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.”  Romans 12:1

We must never compromise and allow the enemy of our souls to take back what we have declared as property of Jesus.
